What makes WiFi Intelligence different from other WiFi analyzer apps?

WiFi Intelligence was built from the ground up with 10 custom R&D libraries (3,561+ tests) because existing Android tools were inadequate. It features industry-first WPA3-SAE-PK detection, transitional mode security analysis, and plain-language explanations. Other apps show 'WPA3' - we explain what transitional mode means for your security and what to do about it.

What is WPA3 transitional mode and why does it matter?

WPA3 transitional mode allows your router to accept both WPA3 and WPA2 connections. While convenient for older devices, it can be vulnerable to downgrade attacks where attackers force your device to use the weaker WPA2 protocol. WiFi Intelligence detects this and explains your options for better security.

Does WiFi Intelligence require root access?

No, WiFi Intelligence works without root access. We built custom libraries specifically to maximize what's possible within Android's security restrictions. For Pro Engineers, we recommend disabling WiFi scan throttling in Developer Options for real-time monitoring, but this is optional.

Why does WiFi Intelligence need location permission?

Android requires location permission for any app to scan WiFi networks - this is a system requirement, not our choice. WiFi Intelligence uses location for GPS-tagged walk tests and site surveys. Your location data stays on your device and is never uploaded to our servers.

What WiFi generations does WiFi Intelligence support?

WiFi Intelligence detects and analyzes WiFi 4 (802.11n), WiFi 5 (802.11ac), WiFi 6 (802.11ax), WiFi 6E (6GHz), and WiFi 7 (802.11be). We parse the actual capability Information Elements to show you specific features like OFDMA, MU-MIMO, BSS Coloring, TWT, and Multi-Link Operation - not just a generation label.

Is my WiFi data private?

Yes. All WiFi network analysis happens entirely on your device. Your SSIDs, BSSIDs, GPS coordinates, and security analysis results are never uploaded to any server. We use Firebase Analytics for app improvement (which you can disable), but your actual network data stays 100% local.

What's the difference between the subscription tiers?

Free tier includes security analysis, WPA3 detection, and basic diagnostics with ads. Pro Consumer ($4.99/month) adds advanced diagnostics, bufferbloat testing, historical tracking, and removes ads. Pro Engineer ($9.99/month) adds professional site surveys, coverage heatmaps, channel optimization tools, and exports to CSV/GeoJSON/KML formats.

WHY WE BUILT THIS

The Tools We Needed Didn't Exist

We searched for a WiFi analysis tool that could actually explain network security. We found apps that show signal bars and channel graphs. Apps that display "WPA3" but don't mention that transitional mode can be forced to fall back to WPA2. Apps that give you numbers without telling you what they mean.

When we tried to build something better, we discovered a deeper problem: the Android libraries don't exist either. No library parses 802.11 Information Elements. No library calculates SNR from RSSI variance. No library detects WPA3-SAE-PK.

So we built everything from scratch. 10 platform-independent libraries. 3,561+ automated tests. The WiFi analysis platform that should have existed.
